Description
The modern clarinet was invented by a German instrument maker in the 18th century by the name of Johann Christoph Denner. He took its earlier version, the Chalumeau, which was similar to a recorder, but had a single-reed mouthpiece and a cylindrical bore and added a register key. His clarinet had eight finger holes and two keys for its two highest notes and unlike today’s clarinet its reed was placed in contact with the upper lip. Since then, clarinet makers have made more improvements giving us today’s clarinet. If you are in the market for a great clarinet look no further.
