Level Four (Intermediate) introduces thumb crossings, two major keys and four minor keys. One page exercises are transposed to or from major and minor keys up to 4 flats and 4 sharps. Students gain experience with various black key hand positions. Greater use of dynamic variety in each exercise. Planned diversity of rhythms and musical styles. These exercises offer important opportunities for ear training. Careful listening to the melodic intervals in different keys gives the student an increased awareness of melodic contour that is valuable for learning and memorizing.
