A cajon is a six sided, box-shaped percussion instrument that is a very unique and interesting percussion instrument that was derived from Peru. They are played by slapping the front or rear panels with your hands, fingers, or brushes, mallets, or sticks. The instrument came about in the 18th century and it is said that slaves are the ones who created this unique instrument. Cajon’s are a very popular instrument in the Americans and Spain.
