Keeping the faith can be a very difficult task. We are constantly tested in everyday life to see how well we hold everything together. Featured in the film The Prince of Egypt, When You Believe is a song about keeping the faith when you feel you arent being heard. The pop version of the song, the one with prominent radio play, featured Mariah Carey and the late Whitney Houston. Both being introduced the project at the same time, they decided to record it together during a rather large media spectacle claiming the singers disliked each other. In reality, they never met until the recording sessions, and ironically became fast friends. The magic came out in the mix, and despite having mixed reviews in the states, When You Believe garnered international success and won an Academy Award for Best Original song in 1999.
