Description
A lovely ballad to set the standard for all love songs in the Disney universe, the titular song from Beauty and the Beast is an iconic work that brings an unlikely couple together. Sung by Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Potts, Lansbury initially did not want to sing it because she felt she couldnt sing as well as she used to and wasnt very familiar with the genre, as she sung more uptempo tunes in her heyday. The producers insisted on her singing, so they booked a live recording with a full orchestra. Lansbury recorded the song in one take and that is the one we hear in the film. The song earned a Golden Globe, an Academy award, and a Grammy shortly after the lyricist Howard Ashmans death.
